16mm film vs CCD digital
Looking for a 16mm look? First choose which kind of imperfection you want.
16mm film and low-resolution CCD cameras come from different imaging systems. Nitralux takes the digital route: crunchy 640 × 480 photos, short Lo-Fi DV clips, and a local Party Album.
| Characteristic | 16mm film | Nitralux CCD-style digital |
|---|---|---|
| Texture source | Photochemical grain and scanning | Low resolution, sensor-style noise, color processing, and compression |
| Capture model | Film stock, camera, exposure, processing, and scan | An iPhone app with a fixed 640 × 480 output |
| Motion character | Frame rate and physical or electronic shutter behavior | Short 15fps Lo-Fi DV clips |
| Best fit | Projects where film material and process matter | Fast, social party-camera capture on iPhone |

What Nitralux is designed to provide
Nitralux centers a fast tap-or-hold capture flow, three original CCD-style / DV camera looks, and an on-device Party Album. It does not currently promise 16mm output.
That means the site copy also has to stay honest. The free tier, stock count, page does not label CCD noise or compression as physical film grain, and it does not claim shutter-angle or film-stock controls that the product does not provide.
Read the deeper film-grain vs CCD-noise explanation, or review how shutter angle differs from Nitralux's simpler capture model.
